One of the most anticipated fights of recent times, and with good reason as 2 true greats enter the ring, the 'golden boy' and the 'pretty boy'.

an intriguing fight this one, the pressuring offence of de la hoya vs the silky smooth, slippery defence of mayweather.
both have chances to win this fight. de la hoya is naturally the bigger man, fighting at a weight he is comfortable at, wheras mayweather is stepping up to a weight that he hasn't been before.
De la hoya also had the strength advantage, and could trouble mayweather if he could land his shots, however with mayweather that is no easy task, he has possibly the best defence in boxing and an ability to not get hit, and has rarely been troubled throughout his carear. mayweather hasn't got the punching power to hurt de la hoya IMO, though he certainly has quick hands and can land a few shots racking up the points.
other points to mention include De la hoya has insisted on 'clito reyes' gloves - (less padding to give the puncher the advantage), and a smaller ring (less room for manuvere), both of which are advantageous to de la hoya.

mayweather is the big favourite @ 1.6 - however this for me is not a good bet, i just cannot see him getting a KO over de la hoya, so the point's win for mayweather would be the better bet at higher odd's of 2.1.
de la hoya - i do think has a chance of winning, but it all depends upon if he can land the punches on mayweather and test him with his superior power. I wouldn't like to call how de la hoya could win though.
the draw - a result nobody wants, though not to be overlooked, especially with some of boxing's decisions, a close fight could split the judges on which style they prefer @ 20's it looks a bit skinny though.

final verdict
A very tough call, mayweather on points would be my verdict of the most likely result. however i do feel that de la hoya would represent the bigger value in the betting (sitting on the fence i know)
